Digital Technology Infrastructure

·        Procurement and maintenance of digital devices and other technology resources

 

The center has access to funding for technology in a project which is about to start. The estimated funding is around $20,000.00. We also have an operational budget that allows us the flexibility in the hiring of staff so we should be able to employ an IT. We would also need to invest in the purchase of the necessary hardware, more laptops, smart TVs, multi-media projectors for professional development training. We need a server, two routers, our own ISP, anti-virus and malware protection.  The IT would have to complete the development of the website and add our profiles to Instagram and Facebook as these are crucial digital platforms that can be used in our vision to educate people about our innovative model. The IT can also educate the staff on the importance of the PLC and the PLN.

 

·        Internet connectivity

The church where the centre is housed has internet access and a zoom platform which teachers, administrators and students are able to utilize. However, we need to have our own Internet service provider to facilitate and install the right bandwidth appropriate to our online expansion and installation of our own platform which will remove our dependency on the working around the church's timetable.

·        Digital safety, digital security, data security, online safety etc

 

We need the IT department to secure a server, malware and virus protection software and the IT needs to follow the ISTE standards when implementing the center’s AUP (Acceptable Use Policy). Students, teachers and parents will be educated on how to navigate the internet safely.

 

 

·        Technical support

So, we clearly have to invest in training and hiring of a trained technical member of staff who will engage not just the teaching staff but all stakeholders in the teaching and learning process. Someone who will equip them with the necessary technical skills and knowledge of digital tools useful to our vision. This person will also co-ordinate the tablet loaner system as well as conduct repairs if warranted.
